In 1898, founder Hendricus (Hendrik) van den Eijnden started his own moving and transport company in the Tramstraat in Eindhoven. Hendrik ran a livery stable and his wife a café. He started with the transshipment of goods and people from the tram station to the railway, Holland Spoor, which over time evolved into removals. Moving really got off to a good start in the 1950s with increasing prosperity. In 2007 the business was sold and for the first time it was no longer a family business. 125 years Gebr. Van den Eijnden
In 2023 we celebrated our 125th anniversary.
History
In 1898, founder Hendricus (Hendrik) van den Eijnden started his own moving and transport company in the Tramstraat in Eindhoven. Hendrik ran a livery stable and his wife a café. He started with the transshipment of goods and people from the tram station to the railway, Holland Spoor, which over time evolved into removals.
Hendrik van den Eijnden’s sons, Harry and Willem, were involved in the trade from an early age and continued the business after the death of their father, after which “Gebroeders” was added to the name Van den Eijnden.
The first car was put into use in 1927, a capital investment at that time. The vehicle, equipped with an American engine, was commandeered by the Germans during the Second World War and transported to Germany.
Moving really got off to a good start in the 1950s with increasing prosperity. Including company relocations, relocations within Europe and far beyond. Gebr. Van den Eijnden was also one of Philips’ home carriers for many years. From there, the transports for ASML also originated. Gebr. Van den Eijnden still carries out transports for ASML, now as one of four transport companies. In addition to removals and high-tech transports, art transports are also part of the services offered by Gebr. Van den Eijnden.
The business was continued in the 1960s by Wim’s sons (Willem), the brothers Henk, Ad and Frans van den Eijnden.
On 20/11/1996, Project Verhuizers Holland (PVH) was founded by a number of moving companies in the Netherlands, with the aim of collaborating with tenders for large tenders. Later, also cooperation with foreign moving companies started. That is why the name Project Movers Holland changed to Euromovers, and far-reaching agreements were also made regarding PR rules and advertising. As a result, the corporate identity for the moving branch also changed to the Euromovers corporate identity. Gebr. Van den Eijnden was therefore involved in the creation of Euromovers, and to this day a director sits on the board of both Euromovers Netherlands and Euromovers International.
In 2002 Gebr. Van den Eijnden to Flight Forum, one of the first two companies on this then new business park. A storage shed was built next to the office building with space for 20ft storage containers, which are controlled by an automatic crane track.
In 2007 the business was sold and for the first time it was no longer a family business. The business was taken over on May 1, 2007 by Peter Lauret, who is still the owner.
In November 2009, moving company Henk van den Eijnden was taken over after the bankruptcy, as well as moving company Antoon van Daal from Eindhoven in December 2013 and Versfelt from Eindhoven in April 2017, with which Gebr. Van den Eijnden is currently the largest moving company in Eindhoven.
